Quaranteen
Alternate Title:
Viral
Payal Saxena (21) is a struggling YouTuber and Instagram Influencer.
She has spent the last two years of her life trying to make it as a blogger - documenting her life and talking to her camera has become second-nature to her, much to the disdain of her family.
During the quarantine, Payal is on an Instagram live with only 5 people watching. She rants about the Lockdown on the live-feed, and wakes up to find that her rant is now Trending #1 on YouTube.
Instantly, she is a viral sensation. But her identity is not that of the cute, happy-go-lucky girl she tries to be. Quaranteen tracks Payal’s journey handling her new-found internet fame.
Getting brand-deals and collabs she’s always wanted, and finally becoming the star she knew she was. We watch Payal as her dreams come true amongst the most absurd and difficult circumstances.
[Alternatively, Payal herself could be diagnosed with COVID-19. The video that finally goes Viral is an honest video of her tracking her journey. We follow her through the course of the disease, and as she recovers.
It covers her existential and moral crisis. Her dilemma of what and how she will do once she is better. Will her fame vanish as the disease does too?
(She could even fake suffering from the disease longer than she actually has it in a desperate attempt to keep her fame intact- but maybe it’s too soon for a plot like that? Might be considered insensitive.)
